Principle:

Ovufocus works on the phenomenon of saliva crystallization and arborization (the fern phenomenon). The dry saliva sample of a woman during her fertility days assumes a fern line shape when viewed under a microscope. During her infertile days it has no shape but has random dots and lines. This fern like shape indicates ovulation and identifies the days on which a woman is most likely to conceive.

The above principle is based on the fact that the estrogen levels in woman’s saliva gradually increases during the first half of her menstrual cycle and peaks on the day of ovulation. This results in higher concentration of salt in her saliva, which assumes a fern like shape when dried and viewed under powerful magnification.

Fertile phase in monthly cycle:

Fertile phase means the days within her monthly cycle when a woman is likely to conceive a baby. A woman is fertile only for few days in her monthly cycle. The fertile phase in a menstrual cycle on average lasts about five days. Most fertile period for a woman is few days before and the day of ovulation. It is important to pinpoint the fertile phase of a women’s monthly cycle to enhance her chances of becoming pregnant. The saliva test through an ovulation microscope predicts the fertile phase with 98% accuracy if used properly according to the instructions.

Fertile phase in menstruation cycle:

The female fertility period occurs approximately in the middle of her menstruation cycle. A menstruation cycle of 28 days has mainly two phases. The first phase begins immediately from the day of menstruation and ends on the day of ovulation. The second phase begins after ovulation and ends on the day the next menstruation cycle begins.

A woman is likely to conceive during her first phase of menstruation cycle which on an average lasts for two weeks from the first day of her menstruation cycle.

The peak fertility on an average lasts between 4-5 days in a monthly cycle. This period is most likely period for women to conceive.

When fern like pattern occurs:

Ovufocus helps women to track their days of ovulation. The image of fern like structure of salt crystals in specimen of a dried saliva sample starts appearing 3-4 days before ovulation, becomes prominent on the day of ovulation and starts disappearing thereafter.

Ovufocus if used correctly and continuously over a period of 60 days can help women to pinpoint her day of ovulation even when she has irregular cycles.

Typically a male sperm has a life of 4-5 days on an average and a women’s unfertilized egg lasts for approximately 24 hours. Therefore the timing of intercourse is important for successful conception. Since the male sperm survives for 4-5 days and the life of unfertilized egg is only 24 hours the window of best chance of conception is 4 days before and the day of ovulation.
